In the winter I go through a tunnel wash to make sure my undercarriage is cleaned. I know it’s not the best way to do it, but it’s the easiest. In summer I wash by hand in my driveway.

Beaters/wife’s daily: Run through cheap car wash occasionally.

All others: Freeze my arm off and hand wash.

That's good too... The Honda/suburban don't get washed as often during the winter

I’ll run mine through a car wash right after they salt the road/we have a snow storm, just to get the shit off of it.

Otherwise I’ll hook a hose up to the laundry tub and wash it with hot water. Planning to run a hot water line to the driveway side in the spring.

Yeah. I drove the merc to do errands on Thursday and Sunday and accumulated salt and road grime everywhere. It's a pretty short drive from my house to the fire station and the roads weren't too bad.

Bring my buckets, shampoo, towels etc. to the local self-serve during slow hours. Shoot the undercarriage with water as best I can.

I made the mistake of doing this sub-freezing one time; the water froze in my wheels and made for a rather harrowing drive above 40mph until it melted out.

With one of these. I don’t have a outdoor tap and my house is too far from the car.

I just took my 3 to a coin operated washer. 6 minutes of frantic cleaning! Usually I go through the touchless in the winter, but it’s 9C out today, which is incredible for this time of year [in Ontario].

I hand wash all of my cars in the summer, including the woman’s.

I generally only wash my cars when the neighborhood children start drawing penises in the thick layer of dirt laying on top of the hood, and only then it’s generally just a quick cheap wash at the pumps.

Fortunately, old Volvos seem to look better the more beaten they are!

I try to go to the contact less carwash at least once or twice every winter to get rid of some calcium, but has to be warm enough but not to hot, since I have a 20 min drive home from the car wash.

P.s I’m in north western quebec, so winters are long and cold.

Minnesota here. I know the feeling. It has been unseasonably warm here though.

problem is here when it’s warm, it’s dirty. since they also use sand on the roads.

I don’t wash my beater (cheap thing is rotting to oblivion, I’m afraid if I shoot water on it it will pierce my fender), but I wanted to come here and say that M-B is absolutely stunning.

I’m jelly.

Usually give it a hand wash once a week in one of the bays after hours. I’ll run it though a touches wash once in a while just so the underneath gets cleaned.

Throw a service tag in the windshield and a “wash” placard and put it in the garage for the porters top find and wash for me :)
